What is the Amlin Graduate scheme?

Amlin wants to recruit graduates into specific Underwriting Assistant roles within the business. It’s an opportunity for you to start your career in underwriting with Amlin. Unlike a Graduate programme where you undertake a series of placements after which you need to find a role, Amlin is offering successful graduates permanent roles with the company commencing July 2008.

What kind of people are you looking for?

We are looking for a 2:1 degree in subjects such as Mathematics/Geography/Geology/Economics/Business Studies.

Where will the roles be located?

In London, in the City. However there will be some opportunity for overseas travel.

Do you also offer one year sandwich placements?

Yes, but the placements are limited so if you are interested in a placement starting July 2008 you will need to contact Group Human Resources in Amlin by emailing michaela.johns@amlin.co.uk by the end of February 2008.

How soon will it be before I have an interview?

The interviews will be scheduled during the first quarter of 2008.

How long will the interviews take?

The assessment process will take half a day. There will be a numeracy and verbal reasoning test followed by an interview. The final part of the process is a team exercise.

When can I expect to receive the offer of employment if my assessment is successful?

We will be making formal offers of employment at the end of March 2008.

What is the starting salary for the roles you are offering?

The starting salary will be £22,000 with a review at the six months stage. You will also receive a comprehensive benefits package and participate in the Group Bonus Scheme.

Does Amlin offer further training and development?

Yes, it comes under the umbrella of ‘Amlin Academy’. Amlin Academy offers staff knowledge of the insurance market as well as professional development.
